Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I have noticed people at work on the greenways
during the weekend.
How do I get involved?
A:
Please contact us at info@ppnsf.org, to get the name of your block or quadrant liaison, or
email Teri Green at workdays@ppnsf.org
for more information.
Q: Can I
work in the park on a day other than a Fourth Saturday Workday?
A:
Yes, you can, once you have filled out the Recreation and Park application
of Permit to Perform Work and Hold Harmless Form and read the Volunteer
Guidelines. Contact Teri Green
workdays@ppnsf.org, Workday Support Coordinator, or a member of the
Executive Committee at
info@ppnsf.org for a copy of these
forms.
Once you have “signed-up” you are free to weed, pull ivy,
clip blackberry and elm suckers, and pick up litter. Until we have more
gardener support, you will need to put the clippings in your own compost bin
or create a discreet compost pile somewhere in the park area. When we again
have a gardener on the boulevard we will be able to call to request a
pick-up of the cuttings. Additionally, try to keep track of your hours for
the year to report to Teri Green so we can total the impact that Park Presidio
Neighbors makes in our neighborhood.)
Both
Members of PPN as well as non-members (who are residents of the area) are
strongly encouraged to participate in the activities of the PPN. The
Executive Committee (“EC”, as elected by PPN members in an open election)
welcomes involvement of all interested parties.
Q: How can I
participate in Park Presidio Neighbors?
A:
There are
a number of ways for individuals to become involved with the PPN:
-
Participate in
neighborhood cleanup days
-
Join one or more of
the working Committees (see description on website, ppnsf.org)
-
Raise an issue or
submit a proposal for consideration by the PPN’s Executive Committee
For the
individual interested in working with the Executive Committee of the PPN
there are multiple ways to do so:
1. Talk with your
Block Liaison or Quadrant Liaison and ask them to advance your comment,
question or suggestion to the Executive Committee. If you need to
find your Block or Quadrant Liaison, email
info@ppnsf.org with your residence address and we will respond with the
names and contact information.
2. Go to the “Contact
Us” section of the website and email your concern to the
info@ppnsf.org
link. (Or just use the email directly.) Your inquiry will be routed to the
appropriate Executive Committee member and you will receive a response as
soon as possible.
3. Work with a member
of the Executive Committee, a Block Liaison, or a Quadrant Liaison which may
lead to either: (a) get an item placed on the agenda of a future EC meeting,
or (b) schedule to make a presentation at a future EC meeting (normally held
the 3rd Wednesday of each month).
Q: I am interested in
being considered for a position on the EC. What is the procedure I should
follow?
The
first step is to indicate your interest by talking to your Block Liaison,
or Quadrant Liaison or other EC member. This should be done as soon as
possible, but no later than March of the election year. The Quadrant
Liaisons are responsible for nominating the slate of candidates. They
meet in early April to assemble the slate based on feedback
regarding those who have expressed interest in being considered for an EC
position. Their nominations are then presented to the EC for
consideration and approval before the Town Hall meeting which is generally
held toward the end of April. At the Town Hall meeting, the slate of EC
candidates is then presented to the PPN membership for election.
