Park Presidio Neighbors is an entirely volunteer organization comprised of hundreds of San Francisco residents of the Richmond District, predominantly from the geographic area bounded by Lake and Fulton streets and Funston street to 14th Avenue. These four streets define an area of mature parkland that incorporates Park Presidio Boulevard (Highway 1) as it travels from Golden Gate Park to the Golden Gate Bridge and Marina District. This entire precinct is a significant urban greenspace, one that is experienced by residents and visitors to our City on a daily basis. Our organization was formed in the Autumn of 1997 by a handful of neighbors whose prime purpose was to contribute to the planting and maintenance of the blocks adjoining the Boulevard, and to create opportunities to meet and foster relationships with our neighbors. We have achieved and expanded upon these goals during the last eight years with the assistance and collaboration of both the gardeners and the leadership within the Recreation and Parks Department of San Francisco. While our primary goals still include the maintenance and beautification of the blocks adjoining the Boulevard, we have expanded these goals over the last few years to include enhanced pedestrian and vehicular safety, new traffic calming measures, irrigation and lighting, and an active neighborhood watch program.
Our Mission Statement The purpose of Park Presidio Neighbors is to enhance the beauty and safety of the Park Presidio Boulevard neighborhood in cooperation with various private, city and state agencies, including the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department.
